PM Vishwakarma Awareness Programme Empowers Artisans in Meghalaya
A PM Vishwakarma Awareness Programme was organised at Thadlaskein C&RD Block, West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, on September 10, 2026, by the Branch MSME Development & Facilitation Office (BrMSME DFO), Shillong, under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises.
The programme focused on helping traditional artisans strengthen their businesses through branding, marketing, product packaging, artificial intelligence, digital payments, QR-code generation, financial literacy and Udyam Registration.
An Udyam Registration facilitation camp was also organised, while artisan success stories provided practical examples of enterprise development, market access and the use of government support. Representatives from the Directorate of Commerce & Industries, State Bank of India, India Post Payments Bank and other stakeholders participated in the programme.
The initiative highlights an increasingly important opportunity for India's traditional artisans: combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology and digital markets.
For artisans, better branding can improve product recognition, digital payments can simplify transactions, and e-commerce can help connect locally produced crafts with customers beyond their immediate communities.
Traditional skills. Digital opportunities. Stronger artisan communities.
VishwakarmaHub believes that connecting artisans with people, businesses and opportunities can help build a stronger and more visible Vishwakarma community.
