PM Vishwakarma Completes Three Years with 30 Lakh Artisans Registered
September 17, 2026: The PM Vishwakarma Scheme has completed three years since its launch, reaching a major milestone of 30 lakh registered artisans and craftspeople across India.
The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises announced the milestone ahead of the scheme's third-anniversary celebrations being held today at Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata, West Bengal.
Supporting India's Traditional Artisans
PM Vishwakarma was launched on September 17, 2023, to provide comprehensive support to traditional artisans and craftspeople working in 18 identified trades.
The scheme provides support through PM Vishwakarma certificates and ID cards, skill training, modern toolkits, credit assistance, incentives for digital transactions and marketing support.
According to the Ministry, around 24.50 lakh Vishwakarmas have received Basic Skill Training, while 18.15 lakh modern toolkits have been delivered to beneficiaries. The credit component has provided loan support to 6.18 lakh Vishwakarmas, amounting to ₹5,297 crore, at a concessional interest rate of 5% per year.
Connecting Traditional Skills with Modern Markets
The scheme also aims to help artisans expand beyond traditional local markets. Its marketing support includes branding, trade fairs, exhibitions and e-commerce platforms, while training introduces artisans to digital transactions, modern tools and entrepreneurial practices.
The Government has identified 18 traditional trades under PM Vishwakarma, including carpenters, goldsmiths, metalsmiths, masons, sculptors, potters, basket and mat makers, barbers, tailors and several other craftspeople.
A Milestone on Vishwakarma Jayanti
The three-year milestone comes on Vishwakarma Jayanti, the same date on which the PM Vishwakarma Scheme was launched in 2023.
The Kolkata anniversary programme is also expected to recognise beneficiaries through the distribution of certificates, training certificates, loan certificates and toolkits, while showcasing traditional skills, products and entrepreneurial opportunities.
For India's artisan community, the milestone highlights the continuing connection between traditional craftsmanship, skill development, technology and access to markets.
At VishwakarmaHub, we believe that skilled artisans deserve opportunities to be discovered, connected and supported.
Traditional Skills. Modern Opportunities. Stronger Communities.
🙏 Happy Vishwakarma Jayanti!
